Challenges & Goals

Through its annual Student Recruitment Campaign, the University aimed to make its institution the top choice in Ireland for potential undergraduate and postgraduate students. The goal was straightforward yet ambitious — get pre-leaving cert and prospective undergraduate students to mark their calendars for the annual Spring Open Day in March.

Knowing the importance of a well-executed campaign, the University sought out our team at GoClick Media. They trusted us to manage their Google Ads Campaign, hoping to tap into our expertise in PPC advertising and scaling brands online. The aim was to broaden their reach, increase their visibility, and ultimately, drive up the registration numbers for the Open Day — setting a new record in the University’s illustrious history.

 

How We Helped

After evaluating the university’s objectives, we recognised that Google Ads was the optimal PPC solution for this mission, given its potential for vast reach and visibility improvements. The power of targeted PPC on Google lies in its ability to connect with specific audience segments, presenting exponential growth opportunities.

Our strategy hinged on breaking down our campaigns to target different audience types that resonated with the University’s profile. We primarily focused on:

● Leaving Cert Students
● Pre-Leaving Cert Students
● Individuals aged between 16-19 years
● Current fifth year and leaving cert students

We understood that the decision-making process often involved more than just the students. Consequently, we also targeted parents who could influence the final decision in secondary audiences that included:

● Parents of Leaving Cert Students & Pre-Leaving Cert Students
● Adults aged between 40-55 with children aged 16-19
● Guidance Counsellors, Principals, Teachers, and other adult influencers

By tailoring our approach to these demographics, we crafted personalised campaigns that resonated with each audience type. This meticulous process was not ideal but essential for their large organisation — especially considering the ambitious growth aspirations.
