Google is by the far the number one search engine with a worldwide market share of over 85%. Billions of people around the world rely on Google to search for information on the internet. It is a dream for every business to have their site on Google’s first results page for search queries related to the products or services they sell.

Using Google ads is one of the easiest ways to get to Google’s first results page when your target customers search for queries related to your business or products. To answer the question of whether Google’s ads are worth it; the simple is YES. However, Google ads will only drive the results you desire if they are well implemented by the advertiser.

There are a couple of things that you have to do to ensure your ads are seen by the right people while paying the least possible price. But how do you achieve that? Let’s find out.

How to effectively run Google Ads?

Set the right goal
When creating a Google ads campaign, Google will require you to set a goal. Some of the goals you can choose from include; sales, website traffic, brand awareness, app promotion, leads, product, and brand consideration, and more. After setting any of these goals, Google uses its intelligence to show your ads to the people who will most likely take the action that will help you achieve your goal.

Use the right keyword themes
As you create your ads, you will have to add keyword themes that Google will base on to decide on the right people to show your ads. Make sure the keywords you use are in line with the goal of the campaign. Using long-tail keywords will also make targeting much more accurate than the “single word” keywords. Google also recommends adding a maximum of 7 to 10 keywords for the best results.

Your landing page should be well-optimized
When someone clicks on any of your ads, they will be sent straight to the web page of the URL you used while creating the ad. You need to ensure this landing page has all the necessary information that your site visitors who come through the ad might be looking for. If you are promoting a product, make sure the description, pricing, and details of how to purchase the product are included. This will significantly reduce the bounce rate of your ads.

Research your audience
Your ads will obviously yield poor results if they are shown to the wrong people. So, take time and research your audience to determine who they are, their location, interests, and their online behaviour.

Take advantage of A/B testing
You can create several versions of the ad with varying parameters, including target audience and keyword themes. This will help you to quickly determine the best-performing version of the ad. A/B testing is usually useful if you are running Google ads for the first time and unsure of what keywords to use or the exact personas of your target audience.

Bottom line

Google ads are very effective if they are well-implemented. If you target the right audience, use the relevant keyword themes, and set the right goal, chances are high that your ads will be shown to the right people and you will generate the results you hope to see.
